The Rite to Rule

Written in Zoei's journal after the official start of the Rite of Succession.

Four candidates for one spot.

I know I came over to support Wuk Lamat, but when I came face to face with the other candidates, I can say 100% that I back her in this rite. It probably comes off as judgmental, but from what information I’ve learned, the others just don’t fit the bill.

Zoraal Ja

He is the first promise and the only “true” son of the Dawnservant. I don’t know why that is important, but this is a different culture. He wants to rule with an iron fist and seems bent on war. His idea of how to rule is to rule by fear; get them to fight in a war until they’re too tired to keep fighting. Who in their right mind thinks that is how to run a country. I’ve seen that before. It does not work, buddy.

Koana

The second promise of the Dawnservant. I will be honest, I was not expecting him. I knew that Wuk Lamat was adopted, but I did not expect him. He is the one who had journeyed to Sharlyan and studied at the Studium. Makes more sense how they have aetheryte technology now. From what I have gathered, he wants to move Tural forward in technology. I can see the merit of it, but the people of Tural have had their way of life for quite some time now. Maybe they don’t need that much innovation?

Wuk Lamat

The third promise of the Dawnservant and my personal favorite. Her main goal is to keep the hard earned peace that her father built. I will be honest, she is a bit young in her mindset. There is no problem with wanting peace; I know her heart is in the right place. To rule though, she will need to build herself up and gain a voice and strength in herself and her people. I can only hope that as we follow along the pay of the Lays, that she will find that within herself and grow.

Bakool Ja Ja

The champion and “blessed son.” What else can I say about this guy but that he is a big jerk! After meeting the Dawnservant, one would think that with two heads, there would be some level of self-awareness. Apparently not with him. It is one hot-head side and an annoying “mystic” know-it-all that in fact knows nothing. I would imagine that he could not even get past his own ego to see what is in front of him. I can only hope that his two heads get into an argument and he gets lost and falls off a cliff. That would be a sound future for them.

We have a long journey ahead of us, so I should rest before we set out for Kozama’uka to the homeland of the Hanuhanu. There was a horrible storm, the one we experienced at sea. It hit here first and apparently did some horrible damage. Hopefully the road is still passable and safe. I am excited to see how they differ from the Vanu Vanu. I know they are not the same tribe, but there are several similarities between them, at least visually.

Will write again when I can.
